Wir Einheimische nennen die Stadt einfach \u201eCasteo\u201c in unserem Dialekt. Die mittelalterliche Festungsstadt liegt etwa 30 km westlich von Treviso. Sie besitzt eine vollst\u00e4ndig erhaltene Backsteinmauer mit Wassergraben und Wacht\u00fcrmen, die als eine der besterhaltenen Festungsst\u00e4dte von Venetien z\u00e4hlt.<\/p>\n

Auf der F\u00fchrung in Castelfranco Veneto<\/strong> wird euch sofort auffallen, dass die Stadt sich um diese eckige Festung aus dem 12. Jh. entwickelt, die auch das Symbol der Stadt ist. Sie erhebt sich auf einem Erdwall aus der R\u00f6merzeit und die Gemeinde Treviso lie\u00df sie als Bollwerk gegen das aufstrebende Padua erbauen. Wer sich damals innerhalb der Mauer niederlie\u00df, erhielt kostenlosen Wohnraum und Steuerfreiheit, wie der Name der Stadt \u201eCastello-Franco\u201c [franko] selbst andeutet, aber musste die Stadt gegen Angreifer mit der Waffe verteidigen.<\/p>\n

Castelfranco Veneto<\/strong> war auch das Land von bekannten Menschen wie dem Renaissance Maler Giorgione, der hier geboren war, und der Familie Riccati, die eine Wissenschaftsakademie gr\u00fcndete und die Ideen der Aufkl\u00e4rung in die Stadt brachte und verbreitete.<\/p>\n

Castelfranco Veneto<\/strong> gilt auch als ideales Einkaufsziel, wo man unter den Laubeng\u00e4ngen schicke Gesch\u00e4fte finden kann, die begehrte Bekleidung- und Schuhwaren anbieten.<\/p>\n

Auf der F\u00fchrung in Castelfranco Veneto<\/strong> werden wir die Hauptsehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten bewundern, u.a. den Uhrenturm, der uns durch Fresken und Wappen die Geschichte von der Stadt erz\u00e4hlt. Dazu kommt der im 17.Jh im neoklassischen Stil umgebaute Dom, in dem das weltweit ber\u00fchmte Altarbild von Giorgione bewahrt ist, das Theater und das alte Pfandhaus (vom au\u00dfen), das heute die Stadtbibliothek unterbringt. Zum Schluss werden wir um die Festung spazieren und einen kurzen Stopp auf dem Marktplatz Piazza Giorgione machen, um die Entwicklung der Neustadt wahrzunehmen.<\/p>\n
